AALI (Association for Advocacy and Legal Initiatives Trust)
Association for Advocacy and Legal Initiatives (AALI) addresses systemic violence against women, girls, and marginalised communities, including diverse genders, through feminist, survivor-centric socio-legal support, awareness, and stakeholder engagement across 94 districts in 4 Indian states. It advances rights, equity, and gender equality.
Since 1998, AALI has advanced survivor-centric socio-legal support across Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Uttarakhand. Through its casework centres and network of empanelled lawyers, AALI builds the capacities of state and non-state actors, grassroots leaders, youth, and communities to address violence against women, girls, and identity-based violations. Its sustained engagement has enabled thousands of survivors to access essential legal remedies and support. These efforts have strengthened service delivery, improved documentation systems, and fostered more responsive, survivor-sensitive practices within institutions and support structures.
The Harish and Bina Shah Foundation grant supports capacity-building initiatives for One Stop Centre (OSC) staff and young legal professionals, fosters a multi-state lawyers coalition, strengthens survivor-centric service delivery, and enhances AALI’s institutional development. It enables strategic case interventions, training programmes, legal resource development, and improved stakeholder accountability across 4 states.
