ACTREC-TMC (Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer, Tata Memorial Centre)
There is a growing burden of cancer and yet, limited access to affordable, quality cancer care in India, particularly for economically disadvantaged patients. ACTREC-TMC provides evidence-based treatment, advanced research, and specialized education to improve cancer outcomes nationwide.

ACTREC is a key unit of Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), India’s largest network of cancer centres. TMC has grown from a single hospital to a national network serving over 1,30,000 new cancer patients annually, most of whom are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Located in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, ACTREC-TMC is a 500-bed state-of-the-art cancer care, research, and education facility, registering approximately 10,000 new patients each year and currently undergoing further expansion. It trains the next generation of oncology professionals through doctoral, postgraduate, and fellowship programs within the umbrella of the Homi Bhabha National Institute, a deemed university under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.

The Harish & Bina Shah Foundation grant supports the development of a 12-storey residential facility at ACTREC-TMC, to provide accommodation and essential amenities — including hostel rooms, dining, gymnasium, yoga rooms, and a Healing Garden — for students, resident doctors, researchers, and healthcare professionals training in oncology, thereby strengthening India’s future cancer care workforce.
