FAST (Foundation For Advancing Science And Technology)
India invests just ~0.7% of GDP in Research and Development, limiting innovation and growth. FAST India (Foundation for Advancing Science and Technology) partners with policymakers, academia, and industry to drive systemic reforms which aid in translating research to markets and ensuring R&D fuels India’s competitiveness in realising its developed-country aspirations.
FAST has been generating data-driven insights to benchmark and strengthen India’s innovation ecosystem, including the State of Industry R&D in India report, the Ease of Doing Science survey, and the National Survey for Scientific Awareness and Engagement. In partnership with the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor, we released A Decade of Science – Technology Panorama for Atmanirbhar Bharat. We also published a case study on IIT Madras Research Park and are releasing a translational research playbook.
The Harish and Bina Shah Foundation grant supports strategic initiatives to strengthen India’s science and technology ecosystem and enable impactful lab-to-market translation. FAST collaborates with Union ministries and NITI Aayog among others, to drive R&D reforms, while also developing institutional translational research frameworks and producing industry case studies, podcasts, and holding roundtables with multiple stakeholders.
