Film Heritage Foundation
Film Heritage Foundation (FHF) is a non-profit dedicated to the preservation and restoration of India’s film heritage. Its activities include the preservation of films and film-related memorabilia, film restoration, training programs, children’s workshops, oral history projects, festival curation, and publication.

FHF, based in Mumbai, was established in 2014 in response to the enormous loss of India’s film heritage. It is the only non-governmental organization in India focused on film preservation. FHF maintains a growing archive of around 700 films and over 200,000 film-related artifacts, including cameras, posters, and magazines. FHF has been restoring classics from every region of Indian cinema that have premiered at prestigious film festivals around the world. It holds free weekly screenings of restored classics at the 1400-seater Regal Cinema in Mumbai. FHF has been conducting annual film preservation workshops across India since 2015 that are open to applicants worldwide and have had a tremendous impact, training close to 500 participants over the years.

FHF is creating a first-of-its-kind Moving Image Centre in Mumbai to preserve and showcase India’s film heritage. The center will support archiving, conservation, digitization, training, screenings, exhibitions, and public programs. Harish & Bina Shah Foundation will support the development of the center and infrastructural, operational and program costs associated with the Centre.
