FPA India (Family Planning Association of India)
Family Planning Association of India (FPA India) supports the rights of individuals to use contraceptive methods, including access to safe abortion. It combats sexually transmitted infections (STI/HIV transmission), eliminates sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), and provides accessible sexual health information, education, and services prioritising youth and marginalised communities across India.

Established in 1949, FPA India pioneered the family planning movement in India with the goal of promoting family planning and evolved as a sexual and reproductive health and rights NGO. As an accredited member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, FPA India has played a pivotal role in advancing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services including family planning and advocating for rights across the country. Programmes cover contraception, safe abortion, adolescent SRH, prevention and mitigation of sexual and gender-based violence, STI and reproductive tract infections (RTI) management, cancer, non-communicable diseases (NCD) screening, and sub-fertility. Annually FPA India reaches out to a population of 30 million people across 15 states and 2 union territories.

Since 2023, Harish and Bina Shah Foundation has supported FPA India to expand access by men and boys to SRH information and services in Mumbai and Lucknow. The grant has helped improve the uptake of family planning services for men and enable youth-friendly SRH counselling and services through community and facility-based clinics. The grant was also used for refurbishment of the FPA India head office.
