Navjeet Community Health Centre

Navjeet Community Health Centre
Navjeet works with communities across 50 Mumbai slums and 45 tribal villages in Shahapur Taluka, Thane — addressing health, education, child marriages, unemployment, water scarcity, and environmental challenges among some of India's most marginalised and underserved populations.

Born out of a response to poverty and inequality in Bandra's slums, Navjeet — an outreach unit of Holy Family Hospital, Bandra — has been delivering integrated community development services since 1978. Today it works across 50 slums in Mumbai and 45 tribal villages in Shahapur Taluka, Thane. Over the decades, Navjeet has made measurable progress in education, reducing child marriages and school dropout rates, promoting holistic health, building women and youth leadership, creating employment pathways, and improving water, sanitation, electricity, livelihood, and environmental conditions in the communities it serves.

The HBSF grant supports leadership programmes for adolescent girls and women, covering public speaking, digital literacy, theatre arts, goal setting, and decision-making. Women are also trained in Anti-Human Trafficking awareness, patient care, and financial literacy, with opportunities for educational exposure visits and Women's Day programmes.
