The Antara Foundation
Despite progress, gaps in maternal and child health persist, particularly in underserved communities where timely access to care is uneven. The Antara Foundation works to reduce preventable deaths among mothers and children and address malnutrition, with a focus on the first 1,000 days of life.
Established in 2013, The Antara Foundation is a public health non-profit working in partnership with governments and communities to strengthen maternal and child health at the last mile. They develop interventions — spanning health system strengthening, community engagement, and digital tools designed from the outset for government ownership and scale. Their flagship AAA Platform for frontline health workers has been scaled across more than 46,000 villages in Rajasthan over the past decade and recognised by NITI Aayog as a best practice. In Madhya Pradesh, their work has contributed to better identification of high-risk pregnancies and improvements in newborn survival.
The Harish & Bina Shah Foundation funds key programmes of The Antara Foundation in Madhya Pradesh, focused on underserved tribal populations. This includes strengthening frontline worker coordination, improving facility readiness through nurse mentoring, deploying digital tools for real-time decision support and case tracking, and building monitoring and evaluation systems
