The Udaiti Foundation
The Udaiti Foundation is accelerating women's workforce participation in India by expanding access to quality jobs, scaling women-led enterprises, and strengthening the enabling infrastructure of housing, mobility and childcare. We partner with the government, industry and civil society to help catalyse India's journey towards a “Viksit Bharat”.
Udaiti Foundation’s flagship programme - Close the Gender Gap (CGG) 30 by 30 – since its launch in 2023, has delivered significant outcomes including a dashboard with gender data from 2,100+ corporations, created over 2 dozen sector scorecards, onboarded several CEOs to a consortium to champion the cause, run pilots with large corporate firms, and developed several case studies to spotlight challenges and best practices.
Additionally, Udaiti supported Uttar Pradesh in institutionalising India’s first ever Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) index, now being scaled across other states. The WEE index is a data-driven tool that uses gender-disaggregated data to map district-level performance across key economic levers and enable gender-intentional planning and decision-making.
The Harish and Bina Shah Foundation’s support will help drive systemic change in the private sector, creating pathways for more women to access quality jobs in the formal economy and fuelling India’s $30T Viksit Bharat vision.
Through this partnership, Udaiti will scale its flagship Close the Gender Gap (CGG) 30 by 30 programme to raise women’s workforce participation from 18% to 30% by 2030. The grant will also strengthen our ability to dismantle barriers in hiring, retention, advancement, and return-to-work, while shaping inclusive practices with high-growth potential for employment in sectors such as pharma, logistics, banking, retail, and manufacturing.
